You then climb quietly on a picturesque path, enjoying breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding countryside.

This first day of donkey trekking ends at Saint-Bonnet-de-Cray.

You stay in a guest room with Marie Christine who will give you a warm welcome and prepare dinner for a friendly evening.

Donkey trek: day 2

From Saint-Bonnet-de-Cray to Vauban

A day out of time in the heart of the Bezo Valley ! You follow the winding river, bordered by meadows where Charolais cows graze peacefully. You are guided by the murmur of the water and can fully enjoy this moment of serenity.

At the end of the day, you cross the small Foumoux forest to reach your evening stopover and your accommodation in a tepee (private showers and toilets in a shared toilet block) or in a trapper's cabin (private bathroom). The meal is taken at the table d'hôtes on site (free swimming pool and sauna: €15 per person to be paid on site).

Donkey trek: day 3

For this third day of your donkey trek, you will immerse yourself in the authenticity of the Charolais Brionnais region. You will cross gentle hills and green meadows while admiring the majestic white cows, emblems of the region.

From the heights of Saint-Christophe-en-Brionnais, you enjoy a breathtaking view of the valley of theArconce and its wooded landscapes. If your stage falls on a Wednesday, take a break at cattle market, an ancestral meeting to discover the history and know-how of local breeders.

In this preserved nature you then join Saint-Julien-de-Jonzy and your evening stop, a country hotel (rooms for 2 or 3 people with private bathroom) where you dine.

Donkey trek: day 4

From Saint-Julien-de-Jonzy to Melay

For this last day of your hiking trip, you gently descend towards the Loire Valley, crossing a magnificent deciduous forest.

We recommend taking a break to admire the Romanesque church of Iguerande, perched on a hill like a thousand-year-old lookout, offering a breathtaking view of the valley and the majestic river. You can push open the door of the nearby museum and, if you are lucky, let Lili captivate you with the fascinating stories of local history.

12,5 km or approximately 4 hours of walking / D+: 30 m and D-: 174 m

Before you leave, take advantage ofcomplete training with a donkey trekking professional. You will learn how to take care of this gentle and patient animal – brushing, cleaning the feet, putting on the pack saddle – and will receive all the necessary explanations to guide your donkey with ease. With your new walking companion, you can set off with peace of mind to explore the Brionnais.

Given the maximum weight a donkey can carry (30 to 35 kilos maximum per donkey), we recommend taking one donkey for 3 to 4 people maximum. This rule varies depending on the age of the children and their ability to walk the entire hike or not: we therefore advise you to carefully assess the weight that the donkey will have to carry during the hike and possibly take an additional donkey as an option if necessary.
